We've recently been working to develop a special frame in order to offer our Wasmuth Portfolio art prints to the public, ready to hang! Working with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation Archives at Taliesin West, we were able to identify a frame design from a photo taken in 1907 of an exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago devoted exclusively to Mr. Wright's work.
Once we had the design, we turned to a master craftsman to execute the frames. Dard Hunter III, of Dard Hunter Studios in Chillicothe, Ohio is known for his high quality Arts and Crafts frames. We've known Dard for awhile now and thought he would be the perfect craftsman to make our special frames. He was very excited at the challenge to recreate a Frank Lloyd Wright designed frame from almost 100 years ago. With a little research and development, we were able to figure out the construction with him, and are now in the final stages of preparing to launch this product to the world!
Each frame is handcrafted from solid maple and hand finished to bring out the wood's natural beauty. Each of our six handmade Wasmuth Portfolio art prints will be available for purchase in the new frame, with a story label affixed to the back to ensure authenticity. We'll be sure to keep you posted on where and when you can find your Frank Lloyd Wright framed art prints will be available for purchase.
